This is a collection of the drugs of choice in certain animal diseases:
Parasitic Diseases:
- Cestodes - Niclosamides.
- Oxyuris - Albendazole.
- External parasites - Deltamethrin (Butox) / Amitraz.
- Mange in rabbits - Ivermectin +Sulfer ointment.
- Babesiosis - Imizol/Avinazine
- Thileriosis - Butalex
- Toxoplasmosis in cats - Clindamycin
- Coccidiosis in poultry - Toltrazuril 2.5 % 3 ml/L /(Diclazuril + Amprolium+ Vit. K)
- Asperigellosis in poultry - Vircon S ..1 gm/L for 2 days.
- Ring worm -
- Best antinflammatory in cats - Meloxicam.
- Best treament of smooth inactive ovary - GnRH (Receptal)
- Ketosis - Ketonil
- Anemia - preparations containing blood tonics (e.g. Antoplex)
- Impaction - clanobutin Na +antihistaminic+Vit.B complex inj.
- Organophosphorus toxicity - Atropine sulphate.
- Pox in poultry [fowlpox] : Emergency vaccination + AD3E + Topical application of Gentian violet.
- Orf - Hexasol
Bacterial Diseases:
- Eye infections - Enrofloxacin drops.
- Wounds or abscess - Penicillins +/- Streptomycin.
- Bacterial arthritis - Penicillin+Streptomycin+Antinflammatory
- Strangles - Penicillin+Genta+Dexamethasone.
- Mastitis - Amoxicillin+Gentamicin+Fenadine or Amoxicillin+Clavulanic acid or Gentamicin+Tylosin.
- CCPP or PPR - Sulphonamide+Tylosin
- Respiratory infections in poultry - Doxycycline 50%+Tylosin at doses 0.5 from each / L for 3 days or Norofloxacin+Tylosin+bronchodilator or Marbofloxacin.
- Respiratory infections in pets - Cefotaxime (40 mg/Kg/every 8 hrs).
- Respiratory infections in large animals - Penicillin+Streptomycin or Tylosin+ Gentamicin or Draxin+Finadyne
- Bacterial enteritis in poultry - Colistin+Metronidazole
- Bacterial enteritis in calves - Trimethoprim-sulpha or Amoxicillin+Piperazine Citrate+Finadyne
Drug of choice for specific pathogens:
- Chlamydia infections - Flouroquinolones/Tylosin/Chlorotetracycline.
- E.coli - Marbofloxacin/Apramycin/Norofloxacin.
- Salmonella - Chloramphnicol (Dose in poultry 1 ml/L for 3 days) / Lincomycin+Spectinomycin.
- Clostridium infections in rabbits: Trimethoprim-sulpha / Penicillin +Metronidazole
- Clostridium infections in other spp : Bacitracin/Lincomycin/Ampicillin/ Amoxicillin+Streptomicin / Amoxicillin+Metronidazole
Diseases caused by Pastreulla spp.:
- Fowl cholera: Florfenicol / Trimethoprim+sulpha
- Shipping fever: Florfenicol +/- Finadyne
