Job Purpose

To manage development projects relating to Ectosan Vet to support the ongoing commercial and technical success of the product. Working closely with the Product Managers for Ectosan Vet and CleanTreat®, together with global commercial teams, to ensure the timely delivery of the technical development of Ectosan Vet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical development of the product, working closely with the Product Manager
  • Co-ordinate all projects, including trials, concerning the technical development of the product
  • Produce trial reports applicable to the technical development of the product
  • Identify and secure alternative sources of funding for technical product development
  • Liaise with research and development partners to support the technical product development programme
  • Develop good working relationships with Contract Research Organisations (CROs)
  • Identify technologies to support the development of the product
  • Support the Product Manager in delivering technical development objectives
  • Work closely with all relevant functions to deliver the overall strategic priorities for the business area as outlined and updated periodically by the senior management team
  • Ensure Quality considerations underpin all internal and external activities and ensuring constant communication with Quality Managers within the business and a continuous improvement approach
  • Design studies that meet Regulatory requirements, working with Regulatory Managers to ensure acceptance by competent authorities
  • Drive adherence to relevant Health and Safety obligations as outlined in the Health and Safety policy both personally and for others, plus contribute across the business to the overall proactive Health and Safety approach
  • Positively contribute to and be an ambassador for the culture of the overall business in all internal and external interactions
  • Meet all necessary Pharmacovigilance responsibilities as required
  • Ensure technical development of the product supports the business plan objectives in product development in order to maintain the organisation’s market position
  • Work with the wider team regarding business and regulatory intelligence, bringing opportunities and threats to the business
  • Driving a sustainable approach in all aspects of daily work, constantly looking at opportunities to improve our sustainability profile
  • Adhere to all other relevant company Policies and standard operating procedure (SOPs)
Qualifications and experience:

  • Proven commercial success in the development and execution of development programmes; demonstrably performance and delivery focused
  • Experience in managing external relationships with Contract Research Organisations
  • Experience in running Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) trials
  • Demonstrable product development experience in medicinal products, particularly in products with an existing Marketing Authorisation
  • Degree qualified in a science related discipline or equivalent experience in aquaculture
  • Experience working with statistics relating to GLP/GCP trials
  • Demonstrable experience in managing projects effectively; prioritising and achieving agreed objectives
  • Experience in development programmes for pharmaceuticals and/or vaccines within aquaculture would be desirable

  • Demonstrable ability to work effectively and independently in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment and to work on multiple work streams and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills with experience in project reporting
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with senior management and across multidisciplinary teams and businesses
  • Ability to build and develop relationships at all levels
  • Excellent organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail, with an understanding that quality and consistency is critical to success
  • A self-starter comfortable with working with colleagues in a variety of international locations
  • Self-motivated and autonomous with effective time management abilities
Reports to: Head of Business Development, Benchmark Animal Health

Location: UK, within commuting distance of our Edinburgh office. The role will require international travel, predominantly to our Norwegian office, located in Bergen and other locations as required to deliver the responsibilities and objectives of the role.
